I get asked this question in the gym all the time: ‘how do I bulk up?’ Or ‘what is the fastest way to gain volume’. The usual response is to eat a lot of calories and lift heavy objects. Easy, right? The problem with that approach is that you will definitely gain weight, but it won’t all be muscle.
Let me explain.
Mindlessly eating thousands of excess calories every day will help you gain muscle, but unless you have a structured and foolproof way of strategically ingesting them, you’ll also gain fat in the process. Most trainees looking to improve their physique want to gain muscle and the bottom line is that they look good; at the beach, in the pool or on vacation. They do not start with a goal like;
‘I want to gain 10 pounds of muscle and 5 pounds of fat’
But that’s what happens. Then they have to cut back to get rid of that stubborn lower abdominal fat they’ve accumulated. Wasting another couple of weeks and maybe even losing some hard-earned muscle in the process. Eighteen weeks for a measly six or seven pounds of muscle.
So you see that typical; ‘Bulking diets’ are not only counterproductive, they will only make you fat and not look your best.
If you really want to look your best and gain volume fast but still maintain a slim athletic look, then try this micro volume and micro cut method. This bulking diet takes into account that if you’re training hard and lifting a lot of weight, you need to eat a lot. If you have a day off, you should eat a lot in the morning and then take advantage of the calories so that your meals get smaller and smaller and you are, in effect, restricting calories and reducing body fat. You’re gaining muscle and recovering from the hard training days of yesterday and this morning, and today you’re shedding excess body fat by cutting calories.
In the long run, this will result in a ripped and ripped body throughout the year and you will also gain muscle. Isn’t that ideal? Don’t waste time bulking up for twelve weeks and then spend the next six searches cutting back on doing long, boring cardio and starving yourself. I see frustration every day and it really doesn’t have to be that way.
