It is important to make sure that your instructor is qualified and experienced in postnatal pilates as your body has undergone enormous changes since your last pregnancy and birth. Your instructor will be able to ensure that you are performing the exercises correctly and will know if you have a diastasis recti or any other complications of pregnancy and delivery.
You should also let your instructor know if you had a C section. This is especially important as it can be easier to injure yourself after having a C section as your ligaments are more supple and you may have stitches which will require careful movement. It is also important that your instructor knows how to safely and appropriately modify exercises to accommodate a C section so you don’t injure yourself.
