Although calisthenics workouts are the best way to burn fat and gain muscle at the same time, calisthenics nutrition is an important step on the road to a successful workout.
Target, attention. Calisthenics nutrition is not just about food. Drinking enough is also a key part of your physical success. Proper hydration is very important in your daily life, let alone during intense calisthenics workouts.
The funny thing about proper hydration is that we are all told what to drink instead of what not. Therefore, I will mention 4 of the worst possible things you can drink: alcohol, diet drinks, coffee, and non-organic milk.
Alcohol. Too much alcohol promotes dehydration and depletes B vitamins and magnesium, which are essential for progesterone. People who drink excessively eventually develop cirrhosis of the liver. Simply put: alcohol is bad. Limit it as much as possible.
Diet and sports drinks. These highly advertised drinks contain a large amount of artificial sweeteners that promote your body’s cravings for real sugar. Artificial sweeteners will change your metabolic process and you will be tempted to eat and drink more sugar based products. You will have the tendency to gain weight instead of losing it. And you don’t want that, do you? Another big problem with diet and sports drinks is that they are loaded with caffeine. As you already know, caffeine is responsible for dehydration, headaches, and hallucinations in heavy consumers of diet and energy drinks.
Coffee. Don’t get me wrong, a cup of coffee is good for you! Unsweetened coffee is good because it speeds up fat metabolism during calisthenics workouts and increases intellectual activity. It has five times the antioxidants of green tea. It is an excellent antidepressant and improves performance and memory. Coffee also has a very protective effect against cirrhosis of the liver and against prostate or colon cancer. However, you should not drink coffee if you are agitated or have high blood pressure. I also recommend drinking organic coffee, since inorganic is sprayed with dangerous pesticides. Moderation is key.
Non-organic milk. Although milk is rich in essential nutrients, calcium and other alkaline minerals, non-organic milk is far from healthy. The calves are fed genetically modified feed. Unfortunately, there aren’t many studies showing the long-term side effects of genetically modified foods. Dairy cows are full of artificial growth hormones, steroids, and antibiotics, all of which end up in the milk you drink. It is scientifically proven that these dangerous chemicals will dramatically affect your entire metabolic process. Organic milk is different. It is higher in omega 3 fatty acids. It is also much higher in vitamins and antioxidants than non-organic milk. I am sure that many people will say that cow’s milk is allergenic and this is true. The solution is to replace it with goat’s milk or vegetable milk (soy, oats or rice).
We can also add iced mochas and hot chocolate, fruit juices from concentrates, sodas, iced sodas, frozen fruit drinks, and to-go shakes to the list of worst drinks.
Although they are considered bad drinks, all of these drinks can be consumed in moderation without having a significant impact on your calisthenics workouts or your health.
Keep in mind that your body needs water when it’s thirsty, so water is the best drink there is. Because?
