Many unbelievers are curious as to why Jesus had to die on the cross for their sins when other people preach the gospel to them. They do not understand the meaning of Jesus Christ dying on the cross for his sins. Jesus Christ was crucified on the cross to offer his life blood as a ransom for our sins.
Humanity is sinful. You can say that you are not a sinner, but every human being on this earth is a sinner. This is because we are descendants of Adam and Eve. Adam was the first man that God created. God created Eve, the first woman, from one of Adam’s ribs. Adam and Eve sinned by eating the fruit of the Tree of the Knowledge of Good and Evil. They disobeyed God’s command because God had told them earlier not to eat from the trees in the middle of the Garden of Eden. Disobedience is a sin regardless of whether the consequence of disobedience is good or bad.
Many people ask why God can’t just forgive our sins so everyone can go to heaven. This way, Jesus Christ won’t have to go to the trouble of coming to earth and dying for our sins on the cross.
In Old Testament times, the blood of the sin offerings was used to make atonement for the sins of the high priest and the Israelites (Hebrews 9:7-10). The high priest made atonement for himself and the Israelites on the Day of Atonement once a year. God requires that everything be cleansed with blood, there will be no forgiveness if there is no bloodshed (Hebrews 9:22).
Therefore, Jesus Christ made the decision to be reincarnated as a human being through the virgin Mary for the purpose of dying for our sins on the cross. Jesus Christ faced temptations just like us while he was on earth but he never sinned. The blood that flowed from his wounds when he was crucified on the cross became a ransom for sinners and cleansed our transgressions. He offered himself as a pure and blameless sacrifice on the cross. Jesus Christ loved us so much that he was willing to give up luxury in heaven and come down to earth to die for our sins.
Anyone who believes in Jesus Christ can be saved regardless of ethnicity, country, etc. (Romans 10:9-13). After being baptized and becoming a Christian, it does not mean that his sins will automatically be forgiven. The blood of Jesus is only useful when you sincerely confess your sins and repent. Every day, you must examine yourself to see if you have sin against God in any area of your life. Christians must abide by God’s commandments and spend time developing a close relationship with God in order to inherit eternal life.
