We live in a different social and economic reality than in recent years. What each individual witnesses today in most countries is a massive expansion of the variety of choices he can make. A simple or moody choice can change the course of your life, before you even know it. Many times you see our choices as obstacles rather than opportunities to achieve and connect with our main goals in life. More than once we become victims of our negative internal dialogue. We conjure up stories of the reasons why we can’t achieve the desired goals and tend to believe that one day everything will fall into the right place.
Believing that one day you will achieve happiness or wealth by not taking action in your life is the worst lie you can tell yourself. As Nietzsche says in the book “Man alone with himself”
“No one dies of fatal truths these days. There are too many antidotes.”
What is your antidote? In other words, what stands between you and the best version of yourself? The most common antidote that people choose to take consists of millions of visions of how their life “should be”, as a result they become numb by missing “the moment”. It is important to have a vision for yourself, but it is more than important to make that vision or purpose a reality. Do not limit yourself to the vision, reproducing it over and over again in your brain, adjust it to your daily life, with actions.
Within every human being there are 2 fundamental functions. The first is the motivation to make things happen, the inner belief that you are here for a reason and to express yourself you must take action. The second refers to an invisible force that we all have inside, that kills our drive. This force is transformed into excuses, ending up blaming our parents, our friends, the government, for our unattainable success.
Take a minute and name all the external reasons why you feel like they are pulling you back instead of moving you forward. To be most effective, write them down on a piece of paper. Put a check mark on those that you can do something about. To the extent of that, what action will benefit you by solving the problem.
As always, there will be issues where you don’t have power at the time. You can’t blame yourself for a rainy day. What you can do in those situations is laugh and focus on the things you can control. It is better to do something than nothing, start with something and your instinct will guide you.
Be honest with yourself, what’s stopping you? What is your antidote?
