Murchison Falls
Murchison Falls, also known as Kabarega Falls, is a waterfall on the Nile River. The falls were formed when the Nile forced its way through a gap in the rocks just 7m wide and dropped 43m, before flowing west towards Lake Albert. The falls are also home to the largest protected area in Uganda, Murchison Falls National Park. The park was created in 1952 and is dominated by savanna, woodland, and rainforest habitats that are home to more than 76 species of mammals and more than 450 species of birds. It is a magnet for bird lovers in Uganda due to the rare species it has. The falls also offer one of the best photography vacation and honeymoon spots in the country.
Bwindi Impenetrable National Park
Bwindi Impenetrable National Park is located in southwestern Uganda, on the western side of the Rift Valley. It is the most scenic national park in Uganda and the most spectacular feature within this biodiverse park is the mountain gorillas. Aside from the gorillas; it’s also home to several other creatures, including 310 species of butterflies, 51 reptiles, and 10 varieties of primates. Bwindi Park is also a top birding destination for bird watchers. It is home to 350 species, including rare Albertine Rift endemics such as African Green Broadbill and Shelley’s Crimsonwing. It is the best gorilla tracking destination in Uganda.
Rwenzori Mountains
The Rwenzori Mountains, nicknamed “Mountains of the Moon”, are located in western Uganda on the Congolese border. It rises to a height of 5,100 meters and is located 4 degrees north on the equator. The source of the Nile river
The Nile River is a major north-flowing river in North Africa, generally regarded as the longest river in the world. It flows north through Tanzania, Lake Victoria, Uganda, and southern Sudan. The main source is the White Nile, one of the tributaries of the Nile originates in Uganda. It contributes 16%, but this is a more constant flow.
Mgahinga Gorilla National Park
Uganda’s smallest and probably most scenic National Park is located in the extreme south-west of the country and is part of a large conservation area that includes the Volcanoes National Park in Rwanda and the Virunga National Park in the Democratic Republic of the Congo. . The most exciting and memorable activity in Mgahinga is tracking the mountain gorillas in the thick jungles. The park also contains at least 40 species of mammals and 79 species of birds. It is a great destination for gorilla safaris in Uganda.
