Having a baby is the most rewarding experience that can happen to a couple. Try to take care of your money because it’s easy to get caught up in an emotional ride. It’s understandable that many couples ignore their budget during this time. But when you ignore your budget, it tends to make the other financial aspects of your life very difficult.
In order to establish and maintain your budget some sacrifice will be required on your part. When you create your budget, make it realistic. You may find that you won’t be able to eat steak as often as you used to.
But your new baby is certainly worth your sacrifices!
So, create a budget:
Get yourself a notebook and pencil. Make a list of the furniture you will need for the new Baby. I would do 2 columns. One column is for actual needs such as a crib, stroller, and crib bedding. I am including baby bedding sets because I believe sleepers are MUCH safer than blankets. The need column can be called “Need”
The other column that I would name as “I want” It should have a chest of drawers, a changing table and a high chair, etc. You know, things you could do with other furniture if you had to.
As you work on your budget, you can always move items from the want column to the need column when you find you can.
I am looking for furniture:
When you start shopping for crib bedding sets, you’ll find a wide variety of sets available. And even if you think matching the crib or new baby theme may seem important, what’s truly critical is the safety of your new baby.
Keep in mind that the crib is probably where the baby will spend the most time. The new baby will not only sleep there but will be happy for hours looking at the mobile.
While looking at bedding sets, make sure that they are made from materials that are not harmful in any way. Read labels carefully!
Remember that it is best not to put pillows, stuffed toys, or even stuffed bumper pads in the crib. You may think a stuffed toy is safe, but inside the crib they have been linked to SIDS.
One of the reasons I like pajamas over blankets is that blankets can get trapped around your head and face. Once again, the key word is security.
