Have you ever been in the woods and someone says “Hey, look at that deer” and you look and don’t see it and people around you say “where” or “I don’t see it”, when the deer is standing? there in plain sight. People who do not see it is because the natural camouflage of the animal is working. This helps deer stay alive every day from their predators such as cougars, bears, and humans. So Mother Nature is the Queen of camouflage and we’re just trying to take a cue from her and imitate the things she does for our success. I cannot stress enough that her camouflage clothing is key to her day success.
So with the same mindset, when heading out into the country, it’s important to be able to blend in with your surroundings as well as deer or birds can. This will ensure that your trip is a success and maximize your chances of seeing wildlife in its natural state of calm. So choose your camouflage pattern carefully to blend in with the environment you enter. If you’re heading to the snow-capped mountains, you’ll want a camouflage pattern with a white base. If you’re heading into a heavily wooded woodland type area, you’ll want a camouflage pattern that’s more broken up with tree types and green colors, to blend in effectively. If you don’t choose the right camouflage pattern to blend in, you’re better off wearing street clothes because that’s what the animals are going to see, this guy sticks out like a sore thumb. In that situation you can’t hide even if you want too. Trust me, sometimes all you want to do is hide.
Research the area you are going to, research the camouflage available on the market, and choose the pattern that best suits your terrain. Always be sure to wear the most comfortable camouflage clothing you like, because after a few hours in the woods, your biggest asset could become your biggest liability for the day in uncomfortable clothing. I always have the right type of clothing for the activity, waterproof marsh camo for duck hunting, insulated waterproof coverall for high mountain hunts. Every condition and terrain demands time and effort to plan the right equipment. If you search, you’ll find the right type of camouflage clothing for your weather conditions and terrain. A face mask and hat are key to completing your camo outfit. Believe it or not, your face is one of the most important parts of things to hide. This can be accomplished simply with many different types of face masks. This component should also have the same type of camo pattern as your other fabrics.
To recap, just remember to blend into your surroundings with the right type of camouflage pattern to match the forest you’re in. By doing this, you will have a lot of fun being one with the forest.
