Good food and fun times are easy any time you get a chance to use a gas grill to cook up a great barbecue for an evening gathering or other special moments with family and friends. If you’re new to gas grilling, you may run into some difficulties, especially if your experience has been cooking with traditional charcoal. Follow these tips to ensure that gas grilling is not only a fun experience, but a safe one as well.

o It is important to always keep the lid open when lighting your propane grill. Be sure not to close the lid until you are sure it is on.
o Always season your meat with a light touch, making sure to evenly distribute the salt, pepper, or your custom marinade over the entire surface area.
o Allow the grill to get hot enough before you start cooking. Never start with a cold will, always make sure it is hot enough to create a sizzle when you place the meat. o The grill completes best with direct heat from the user, so place the meat directly on the burner. Using indirect heat is best when cooking less tender cuts, such as brisket. o The best method to prevent meat from drying out is to turn it only once during cooking time. Too much flipping causes it to lose its natural juices and become dry and tasteless. It’s also a good idea to use tongs or a spatula and never a fork. Again, you want to preserve as much of the natural juices as possible. Perforation and therefore our juices will leak out.
o Meat must be cooked to an optimal temperature to produce the results you need. Where meat is always cooked to 140°F. medium rare meat – 145; Medium to 160 and 170 for well done. When cooking burgers, aim for 160 degrees before considering them cooked.
o Once you have finished cooking your meat, place it on a clean plate. Never use the dish from which you took the meat raw. Allow to cook for several minutes, then cover with aluminum foil to keep warm. If you allow the cooked meat to rest for a few minutes, the juices will redistribute throughout.
