Whether it’s tired eyes, wrinkles, bug bites, or burns, there are times when things can happen to your skin. With the following organic skincare tips and recipes, you can treat various ailments naturally, leaving behind many of the man-made pollutants that are absorbed into our bodies through most over-the-counter products.
Insect bites
Recipe #1: Mix 1 drop of organic almond essential oil and 2 tablespoons of baking soda and 4 tablespoons of distilled water to form a paste. Apply on the cock and let sit for 20 minutes, rinse with warm water and pat dry
Recipe #2: Mix 8 ounces of distilled water with 2 tablespoons of Epsom salt. Apply a compress made with a cloth soaked in this mixture.
Oily Skin / Acne
Recipe #1: Make a face mask from 1/4 organic apple (cored but unpeeled), 1 organic egg white, 1/2 organic lemon (peeled and seeded), 30 organic Thompson seedless grapes, 4 tablespoons organic watercress (finely chopped). Blend all ingredients over medium heat for 3 minutes. Apply on the face with cotton balls and leave for 20 minutes. Rinse with warm water.
Recipe #2: Mix 1/4 cup of organic (plain) yogurt with 1 tablespoon of brewer’s yeast. The mixture must be liquid; if not, add a little more brewer’s yeast. Apply to oily areas and let stand for 20 minutes. Rinse with warm water.
Recipe #3: Mix 1/2 cup organic oatmeal, juice of 1/2 organic orange, and 1 teaspoon organic honey. Apply to the face and let it sit for 20 minutes. Rinse with warm water.
Waste
Recipe #1: This remedy should be prepared in advance and saved for when it is needed. First you will need to create 4 special oils. You will need organic extra virgin olive oil, three airtight glass jars, and 4 fresh organic herbs: calendula, plantain, red clover, and St. John’s wort.
Let the herbs wilt for a day, then place each type in its own jar and cover the herbs with olive oil. Close the jars and leave them exposed to direct sunlight for two weeks. Strain the oil to use. Once you’ve made your oils, you’ll need 1/4 cup of each of your specialty oils and 1 cup of organic beeswax.
Melt the oils and beeswax in a large microwave-safe bowl, pour into an airtight glass jar, and let cool. If the mixture is too runny after cooling completely you need to add a little more beeswax and melt again, if it is too thick add a little more oil and melt again. Apply to wounds as needed as you would prepared antibacterial ointments.
Recipe #2: Soak the area with Epsom Salt dissolved in warm water. This is most easily done by taking a warm bath with 2 cups of Epsom salt.
splinters
Recipe #1: Soak the area with Epsom Salt dissolved in warm water. This is most easily done by taking a warm bath with 2 cups of Epsom salt. Because Epsom salt draws out toxins from the skin and acts as an anti-inflammatory, this bath will bring the splinter to the surface.
Recipe #2: Wrap a thin slice of organic potato over the sliver and leave overnight. The potato takes things out of the skin and the splinter should be on the surface in the morning.
sunburn relief
Recipe #1: Mix 5 organic cucumbers (pureed) and 2 1/2 cups dry milk in a bowl. Pour the mixture into a warm/lukewarm bath and soak the burned areas for 20 minutes. The mixture can be applied directly to burned skin if you prefer.
Recipe #2: Soak the burned area with Epsom salt dissolved in warm water. This is most easily done by taking a warm/lukewarm bath with 2 cups of Epsom salt.
Tired eyes
Grate the raw potato and wrap it in cheesecloth. Apply to eyelids for 20 minutes, wiping away starch residue before applying makeup.
wrinkles:
Recipe #1: Cut Organic Thompson Seedless Grapes in half and crush over wrinkles, especially near the eyes and mouth. Leave the juice on your face for 20 minutes and then rinse it off with lukewarm water, repeat every day.
Recipe #2: Mash a very ripe organic banana very well, apply all over the face and leave on for 20 minutes. Rinse with warm water
