Human intelligence is really very broad. Consider if you wish the wide range we have. We know that the average IQ is 100 as defined by the intelligent quotient test. We have people that we consider mentally challenged at levels as low as 60, and we have humans as high as 185. That brings the difference to 125, and that’s just huge. Consider that most of the animals on the planet that we know of have an IQ of 60 points or less, with the exception of squids, dolphins, elephants, and other animal primates such as humans.
So what is the distribution of human intelligence? Some would say that it looks a lot like a bell curve, but that would be a lie. For every person who has an IQ of 185 on the high end, there are a large number of people in the 60-point level. The distribution of high IQ people to low IQ people is not symmetric, so a bell curve could serve as a good analogy, but it is an incorrect mathematical and computational use in this particular case. However, for the sake of argument, I would like to talk about some people who have done quite a bit of research on IQ distribution with respect to Americans, Whites, Blacks, Latinos, Asians, etc.
There is a very good YouTube video that you should watch, it’s an audiobook titled; The Bell Curve – Abridged Audiobook (Charles Murray). This video/audiobook is based on the book;
“The Bell Curve – Intelligence and Class Structure In Intelligent Life” by Richard Herrnstein and Charles Murray, Simon and Schuster, New York, NY, 912 pages, 2010, ASIN: B003L77VY2.
This book looks at cognitive ability and is fearless in its evidence. Interestingly, a lot of the things they talk about we can’t say in public due to political correctness. The authors speak to the reality that in the United States we are all considered equal under the law, but it is quite obvious that we are not equal in our talents, abilities, or genetics. The authors insist that the founding fathers were well aware of this, but still wanted everyone to be equal under the law so that less genetically gifted people would not feel they were living in a society that was unfair.
That makes sense, right? I want to say that we all have to get together and live together in peace even though we are not the same in many ways. We should celebrate our diversity and understand that some of us are more intelligent, athletic, creative or less of those things. That is not good or bad, that is nature and evolution, and that is reality. If you can handle that reality, you should read this book, if you can’t, run because you won’t like the truth. Please consider all this and think about it.
