Yes, I like free traffic. And it was time to vent today, so I’ve been goofing around going from leader blog to leader blog and commenting like crazy.
You know… I’m inspired too. Reading all the highly rated blogs I could find on my topic is always a great way to get back into the swing of things when I get into a rut. And yes, I also get into the routine. I hate staying in them!
So I went to the blogs of my favorite leaders and made my mark. My comment and my backlink.
That’s where this article comes in: I think new people looking for free traffic this way (and remember this isn’t ALL there is to it) need a little checklist for leaving a comment/backlink. It’s certainly not difficult. But jargon puzzles people, so I’m going to send you some clarification.
Leave a blog comment / backlink for free traffic:
First, go to the blog where you want to read and comment.
Then click the post title to see the post itself, not the blog home page.
Now read the article. Yes. That is an important step! Don’t just comment, leave something for someone else to read too! Human readers are free traffic if your comment is decent. So read first.
Now look for a place that says “leave a comment” or “view comments”. Click on the link if that is how you have to get to the comment area.
Put your name in the name slot.
Enter your email in the email slot.
Enter your backlink in the website slot!
If that is. Submit his comment and your backlink is sent along with it.
This is what you should NOT do:
Please do not leave a comment that looks like an advertisement for you. That is, do not enter your phone number or website address within the body of your comment. Just keep filling in the blanks and let the machine (the blog you’re commenting on) do the work for you.
Please do not leave a comment that completely ignores the topic of the article you are commenting on. Make sure you have something intelligent to say on the topic at hand. Once again, read the article first. If it inspires you, say so. If you have a question, ask.
Do not enter a comment that looks like this:
“Thanks for that (so and so). I am building a business that offers a great health product and I teach internet marketing. You should come and check it out!”
Major no no You’re not making strong contact if you do that. Plus, you’re destroying your reputation with tricks like that. So steer clear of that and stick to an intelligent conversation. This is social media and it’s about being social, not selling.
Hope that clears it up for the new blog commenting marketers! Remember to choose the highest rated blogs to read and comment on; it will give you more free traffic for your effort.
Always remember to be looking for a phone call at some point. Make a real connection. You never know what amazing things can come from free traffic from a real blog comment. Build your mastermind!
I’ll see you at the top!
