We turned our basement into an exercise room and entertainment center. We have everything from billiards to darts, foosball and table tennis. It was logical that we add a pinball game. After all, I LOVE pinball. I quickly got sucked into playing! I love the thrill of the game. (but I don’t like to play my husband, he kicks my butt). My 3-year-old son and I are more on the same level. Well, maybe my 18 month old son.
We were very lucky that my dad was here when we were discussing the purchase. He liked the idea so much that he offered to buy us a pinball game. (After all, her daughter really wanted to do something that was perceived as masculine) She had no idea what a generous offer it was. Pinball is quite expensive – several thousand dollars for a refurbished one. It was shocking to me. I’m sure he was a bit surprised too.
My husband and dad had to go pick up the machine. (The place where we bought it did not deliver it) It was very heavy and difficult to transport, as it is a bit awkward in size. Also, Carmen’s head (I think it’s Carmen) sits on top of the machine, making the entire pinball game almost six feet tall. Once the pinball machine was installed, the fun began and has been ever since. You can kill Carmen, meet Mr. Hanky, the Christmas poop, and even enjoy the thrill of the multi-ball. Multi-ball is like 5 balls coming out at the same time.
While I’m good on the fins, this is often too challenging for me. (Admittedly, I don’t get a chance to play multiball very often) Machine language can get pretty bad, so I’m often on the childproof setting. I definitely don’t recommend it for kids without the filter. (Thank goodness for that handy switch!) Overall, it’s a lot of fun and definitely worth the investment. We’ve had to repair the game several times in recent years for some circuit issues, but again, it’s worth it! Pinball ROCKS! Although the younger generation loves video games, Pinball is NEVER the same game twice.
There are no patterns to memorize. Instead, you get all the hand-to-eye skill coordination. Nothing better than taking one of these machines to your home. You never have to feed him quarters and you have a lot of practice. South Park is just an acceptable pinball machine. A better game to enjoy in the long run is the classic Addams family pinball machine, which is one of the best machines ever made. Get something you like and play it 10 times before you buy to make sure it will hold your interest. If the rules are too easy, it will disappear faster. The newer games have very deep rules that can be entertaining for a long time.
