When deciding which Hawaiian island to visit, you may be worried about making the wrong choice. But rest assured, an Apple vacation in just about any area of the islands will likely end up becoming the vacation you want. With all-inclusive vacation packages available at many different locations, you’re sure to have a blast!
Oahu
Oahu is the third largest of the Hawaiian Islands, but has the largest population due to the fact that the state capital, Honolulu, is located on the southeast coast. Oahu was the first island discovered by James Cook’s voyage crew in 1778, when they became the first Europeans to discover and visit the Hawaiian Islands.
Oahu’s scenic landscapes have been featured in many different movies and TV shows, including Lost, Jurassic Park, Hawaii Five-O, and Forgetting Sarah Marshall.
Honolulu
In Hawaiian, Honolulu means “sheltered bay” or “place of refuge.” In a 2009 assessment, a British consultancy ranked it the 29th best city in the world for quality of life.
Oahu is the most popular island among those who book Apple vacations due to the wide range of activities available in Honolulu. There are many all-inclusive vacation packages in the many hotels that exist there. Of course, regular Hawaiian activities like swimming, sunbathing, snorkeling, and surfing are still enjoyed, but there are plenty of others, too.
Hawaii’s state capital is home to many interesting sites worth visiting if you feel like spending a day away from the beach.
1. The Arts District is made up of twelve blocks that are home to many arts and cultural institutions.
2. Ala Moana is the largest open-air mall in the world and the largest mall in Hawaii.
3. Waikiki is the tourist area of Honolulu. This area has more than a thousand hotel rooms in total. It has many shops, restaurants, and nightlife spots.
Pearl Port
To the west of the city, one of the main attractions is Pearl Harbor, site of the infamous December 7, 1941 attack that forced the United States into World War II. This area is steeped in history and meaning to everyone and especially to Americans. Today, it is an official National Historic Landmark, as are the ships Arizona, Bowfin, and Utah, which remain in place. Pearl Harbor also remains an active military base.
air-conditioned
Oahu has a tropical climate that has two seasons: wet and dry. Although they are identified as distinct, the truth is that the island is really beautiful and satisfying throughout the year due to the trade winds that keep the island from getting too hot.
Summer highs tend to be in the upper 80s, while winter highs are in the upper 70s and lower 80s. So it’s going to be warm no matter when you go!
The Hawaiian Islands tend to get a bit of rain from time to time, but Oahu actually gets very small amounts and they tend to be fleeting and go away in no time.
When should you go?
In all honesty, there really is no bad time to visit Oahu. If the 80’s to mid 80’s are too warm, plan to go during the winter. Winter nights can be cold, but the days are still nice and warm. Many Apple vacations are booked during the busy spring break and summer travel season, so discounted vacation packages are often available in the winter…and the best part of planning a winter trip is to be able to escape before a snowstorm covers their city with cold. white powder!
